IPL 2022: Preparations at full Swing in Mumbai and Pune

The Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is going to be held in Mumbai and Pune from March 26 to May 29 which is why all preparation is in full swing. Players have arrived in the city on March 8th, 2022. The governing council has decided that this 15th edition of IPL will be played in a biosecure environment T a single hub to avoid air travel in the light of the Covid 19 threat.  The first match will be held on 27th March and the final will be held on 29th March. The IPL Governing Council has taken key decisions regarding the TATA IPL 2022 Season 15th edition of IPL in a meeting. The key decisions are:

  • All teams will play 4 matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
  • The teams will play 3 matches each at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) and MCA International Stadium, Pune. 
  • Ten teams will play 14 matches that include 7 home matches and 7 away matches, totaling 70 league matches followed by 4 playoff matches.  Each team will play 5 teams twice and the remaining 4 teams only once (2 only home and 2 only away).

To decide on the above, teams have been assigned in two virtual groups based on the number of IPL Championships won followed by the number of Final matches played by the respective teams. There will be a total of 70 league matches will be played in four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune. The venue of the playoff matches has not been decided yet. There will be 20 matches played at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai; 15 matches at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai; 20 matches at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai; and 15 matches at MCA International Stadium, Pune.  

Who is IPL 2022 Winner

Apart from locals, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), political figures, and Mumbai T20 League Chairman have expressed pleasure to host IPL. Because of Covid 19, although the number of cases has declined, authorities are taking extra care in preparation.

  • The Maharashtra government has approved the entry of fully vaccinated spectators and a 25 percent crowd limit.
  • All participants had to undergo RT-PCR tests 48 hours before their arrival in Mumbai and had to undergo 5-day of quarantine before entering their respective bubbles.
  • Teams, who are reaching venues for practice or match venues will go through a special ‘green corridor’ and will use Eastern Freeway to go to Navi Mumbai or Thane from South Mumbai.
  • The civic authorities in Mumbai have been asked to beautify and keep the city clean where the games are happening.
  • 10 plush hotels have been booked in Mumbai and two hotels have been chosen in Pune.

Aditya Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Chief Minister said, ‘For Pune, the meeting will be held soon, proposed to be chaired by DCM sir to ensure that the tournament is successfully carried out in all our city venues’. People across the country are excited and eagerly waiting for IPL to start after such a long time. Undoubtedly, the country has seen many ups and downs during the pandemic, IPL will be refreshing entertainment.
