Assembly Election 2022: BJP’s Victory Galore in UP

It seemed a gust of saffron blew so majestically that it engulfed four states in India on 10th March. The miraculous win of the Saffron brigade in four states is a befitting reply to Lutyens journalists and leftist intellectuals fielding for opposition parties. With the second consecutive win in the Hindi heartland of India, BJP is also set to form government in three more states- Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand. Bhartiya Janta Party, often referred to as the Hindutva party has been successful in winning people’s hearts that it sailed through the most critical election and all set for the next terms of five years majority government in all states.

The assembly election 2022 has added another feather in BJP’s cap and has boosted the morale of the party. It has no doubt its people-centric policies are indeed having outreach to the lowest rungs of its people. UP elections are more often seen as a precursor to the national elections and gauge the sentiments of the voters. This was the 4th successive election in UP when BJP has comfortably managed to gain the confidence of the people.  PM Modi has mentioned this view while addressing party workers on Thursday. BJP’s win has brought a huge boost in the party’s confidence. Earlier it was speculated that BJP’s vote bank may split due to farmers’ agitation, CAA bill, persistent problem of unemployment, handling pandemic during the second wave but all these speculations were put aside by the voters during vote casting.

Yogi Aditya Nath

The second outstanding win for BJP in the assembly election has not come easily. We need to understand how long-time national interests have been prioritized over politics of appeasement. We can see how caste and religion-based politics have shifted towards class-based politics. We need to appreciate how methodologies, strategies, and interaction with the public of the Yogi government in UP worked wonders. The much-improved law and order, welfare schemes for the poor, housing schemes in low cost, free ration, pension scheme and security for women, provision of toilets, provision of medicines on low cost through Jan Aushadhi Kendra were the highlighted reasons for BJP’s win in UP assembly election.

In Manipur too, let’s go back to 2017 when BJP won just 21 seats and allied with small parties to form the government. Now the situation is different- BJP is all ready to form the government. The voters look for peace, stability, development, and welfare in BJP led governance.

UP Election Result 2022

In Uttarakhand, the chief minister lost the election but the Modi factor and all development work as Char Dham shrines development, all-weather road, Jal-Jivan mission, Rishikesh-Karanprayag railway project were the main factors for BJP’s win in this election. People voted for double engine government.

The remarkable win in Goa has not come easily for BJP. There were challenges- poor economy, absence of all-time favorite leader Manoj Parikar, political uncertainty, dis-engaged party workers that led voters to look for something better. In India, sometimes it is hard to figure out the voters’ bent of mind but this time, the re-election of Yogi after completing a full term indicates that voters want law, order, and development in the state.
