TVS Motors Becomes First to Join United Nations Global Compact
TVS Motors has become the first two-wheeler company to join UN Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainability initiative. It is one of the largest companies of two-wheeler and three-wheeler in the world. With this participation, TVS Motors will support the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. In a statement, the company announced that this integrated step will enable TVS Motor Company to access a wide range of tools and learn from the UN Global Compact expertise on this topic to take the company’s sustainability efforts further.
The UN Global Compact was launched in 2000, is the largest corporate global sustainability initiative that involves more than 14,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories in over 160 countries and more than 70 local networks. In India, around 400 organizations from various industries are involved in this initiative. TVS Motor Company is the third-largest two-wheeler company in India. It has revenue of over Rs. 18,217 crore. It is also the second-largest exporter in India to more than 60 countries. The estimated annual sale is more than 3 million units and an annual capacity of more than 4.95 million vehicles. The company’s manufacturing plants are located in four places- three located in India- Hosur in Tamilnadu, Mysore in Karnataka, Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh, and one in Indonesia in Karawang.
