The Glory of Shershaah – On the Border and on the Box
The generation growing up during 1999 is pretty aware of the agony of the Kargil war. With the Kargil war, people can never forget the name of Captain Vikram Batra whose paramount bravery and sacrifice had led India to throes of victory, however, the victory did not come all sailing, the price of numerous brave lives was paid in return.
Bollywood seems to have paid a tribute to the glorious sacrifice of Captain Vikram Batra with its recent release ‘Shershaah’ on August 12. Captain Vikram Batra was awarded Param Veer Chakra for his extraordinary valor during the war. Directed under Vishnu Vardhan, starred by Siddharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, and Shiv Pandit, the film has successfully shown matchless patriotism.
The film is named after Captain Batra’s code name ‘Shershaah’ in operation ‘Vijay’ during the war. Siddharth Malhotra who played Captain Batra in the movie has definitely brought the character into life. He has been receiving admiration and applause for his outstanding performance and skills. The movie ‘Shershaah’ showcases the deep patriotic emotions of a young man who wanted to become a soldier and be awarded for his valor.
After the martyrdom of Captain Batra, some unaccomplished matters came into lime-light. The blossoming love of Captain Batra and Dimple Cheema could not culminate into a wedding, however, his love interest Dimple Cheema opted to remain widow of him.
The role of Dimple Cheema required a depth of emotions and inner strength to be demonstrated. Kiara Advani, who did justice with the role of Dimple Cheema, has received numerous positive remarks for her wonderful performance in the movie. The chemistry between Kiara and Siddharth goes very well and the supporting cast includes a lot of new faces.
The role played by Sidharth Malhotra has not been easy for him. The actor himself has accepted the fact that the major challenge he faced while playing captain Batra’s role is that he had to play two phases of his life and also Vikram’s twin brother Vishal Batra.
He revealed that playing two different identities requires a thorough understanding of both the characters. Although, the movies revolve around the life of Captain Batra, still in few places he had to play the role of Vishal Batra.
Since the motive of the film is to showcase the life of Captain Vikram Batra, producers have done a good job but the portrayal of his family, their support for him is missing in the film. Any key character from our opponent Pakistani soldier has not been highlighted. The lush green valleys of India-Pakistan borders create a lively ambiance.
Having considered all aspects, it has no doubt that the movie has very impressively created patriotic moments that will melt your heart and make you want more of such heroic movies.
